Best Sancerre I ever had
Johannes Nielsen
Very bourgeois, indeed!
My father-in-law invited us to Auberge in Copenhagen to honor my mother-in-law's 70th birthday. He spent her birthday in Thailand--but that's another story.
The one I want to write about is about the wines I had during this wonderful dinner with the in-laws, my awe-struck kids, and my lovely wife.
Well, to cut a long story short: the 2003 Henri Bourgeois Sancerre d'Antan is simply the best Sancerre I ever had. From an exceptionally hot year and 70-year old vines (how fitting!) comes a concentrated nectar totally different from the light and flowery wines also produced there.
